One opportunity can change an entire future: Kavitha's Journey
Facing imminent school dropout after her father lost his daily wage job, Kavitha received a full educational scholarship and remedial mentoring, achieving 92% in her secondary examinations.
“I thought my dreams of studying science ended when our books were locked away. Neha Foundation didn't just give me books; they gave me back my belief that I can become an engineer.”
Kavitha's father worked as a casual loader whose income was erratic. When financial pressures mounted, the family could not afford textbooks, exam fees, or school uniforms. Kavitha was on the verge of discontinuing school in 8th grade.
Neha Foundation's field team identified Kavitha during an annual community retention survey. She was enrolled in the School Kit Lifeline program, received complete tuition sponsorship, and joined the after-school Community Learning Center for daily mathematics coaching.
With continuous mentorship and digital literacy access, Kavitha topped her school class with 92% marks and has now enrolled in pre-university science streams with full academic support.
In many urban settlements, a sudden family health crisis or loss of a daily wage job creates immediate ripple effects on children's education, with daughters often being the first to be withdrawn from school.
Kavitha was one of the brightest students in her government high school, but by mid-2023, unpaid fees and the sheer lack of notebooks and geometry sets made attending classes humiliating.
When our field education coordinator visited her neighborhood, Kavitha's mother spoke with tears of how desperately her daughter wished to continue studying. Our team immediately initiated our scholarship sponsorship protocol.
Beyond providing the physical learning kit, uniforms, and fee clearances, Kavitha was welcomed into our local Community Learning Center. Here, dedicated volunteer teachers provided structured guidance in physics and algebra.
Today, Kavitha stands as an inspiration to over twenty younger children in her neighborhood who now attend the evening learning center regularly.
